Calla Lily in Pixels

A carefully pixelled calla lily

The Quilting Bee is running another garden based activity this spring, and this is my entry, a calla lily. Mum would grow these in the garden when I was growing up, and I always thought they were so elegant and beautiful…

Last summer she gave me a potted marigold to put on my windowsill, and it bloomed all autumn and then died away. I never bothered to move the pot with the dead marigold all winter, and in the spring I was surprised to see a little calla seedling popping it’s head up! It smuggled aboard in the marigold pot!

Hopefully, I can take good care of it, and one day grow some beautiful calla lilies of my own.

Star Jar

A pixelated jar that has been filled with a scoop of night sky

There have been a lot of really great pixel art events taking place over at the qbee lately. This was an entry for the star jar competition, which won second place for the best pixeling category.

Teacup

A teacup for the qbee. Pixel art takes ages, but it’s fun.

Update: Hurrah! I won an award in the Best Pixeled catagory!

Cactus Flower

Just a bit of pixel art for the qbee. I was too slow to enter the Valentines activity, but I’m on time for the spring activity. It’s inspired by the kind of flowers that cacti tend to have, but not based on any specific plant.

Quilting Bee

Finally, I’ve gotten into the elusive qbee. The first time I tried to enter was several years ago now, but I was unsuccessful, despite spending hours and hours painstakingly making not-very-good pixel art. Ah well, I’ve finally cracked it, hurrah!
