The deadly lampshade is a nocturnal predator which stalks the bedside cabinets and dressing tables of hotel rooms. It waits for its intended victim to fall asleep, then it crawls close and activates a special light-secreting gland in its abdomen. Gradually, the victim is roused from sleep, and will reach out to fumble for the light switch, but there is none to be found, only razor-sharp talons.
An adult lampshade can eat as many as four fingers a night.
