I used to work in the supermarket. This is what I learned about packing groceries.
Heavy stuff goes at the bottom
It makes a good base to pack the rest of your stuff on
Keep hot and cold items away from each other
Bread, cereals and crisps make good buffers
Light stuff goes on top
Same with squashy stuff
